3/10/13 YOP- The Behinder I get

So, it would seem I’m once again chasing the pack where blogging is concerned.  I finally got all the goods to the tax accountant so things at work are settling down a bit.  This will hopefully mean good things for the blogging time!  Of course the bigger road block has been balancing time between the computer and the crafting. Mostly I’ve chosen the knitting and spinning. And in the last 2 weeks, mostly the spinning. There’s not been a lot of movement on the project list.  I’ve finished another pair of socks, am on the 2nd of the 4th pair for my Winter Term HPKCHC OWL and have started the shawl that I’m attempting as a test knit.  The scarf I was hoping to finish for the BROOM is not so likely to be finished but I’m still loving the scarf and knitting along happily on it.

The shawl, well, that is something of another story all together. I excitedly cast it on on the 1st, so excited to get started, but it tried to make me crazy from the get go.  It’s a 6 row repeat on a lace pattern that just refused to cooperate.  So after no less than 7 failed attempts, I finally managed ONE repeat before I borked the 2nd row of the 2nd repeat.  Considering the pattern calls for 80 repeats of this one chart, it was not looking good. So I set it aside and focused on socks. But last night something made me want to try again. So I did.  And I quickly managed 4 repeats without much trouble at all.  SO I’m hopign this means good things. For tonight I’m trying to get through the toe and start the pattern on my 2nd Terpander sock so that I’m ready to work on that one at lunch tomorrow but then maybe I”ll work on the shawl at home.  Or the scarf. Or maybe the Epic Blanket of Insanity. I dunno. But I’ll figure it out.

Anyway, the  the official progress report for the last 2 weeks:

  1. Funny, I dropped off all my stuff to the Tax Accountant on Tuesday. I guess we’re both expecting refunds 🙂

Sounds to me like you’ve tamed that shawl pattern! Fingers crossed. I’d still string a lifeline or two as I went though!

    • It was work related tax stuff this go around and no refund for me (the disadvantage to not having kids. No deductions!)

And trust me, after all the problems the first time I’ve run a lifeline every time I’ve finished a repeat!

  2. I hope the shawl now goes smoothly for you, setting it aside must have done the trick !

  3. Sometimes the knitting needs a time-out. Glad the shawl is working for you. Good luck choosing what to knit, sounds like you have a lot of pokers in the fire!

  4. I just went through that with a hat..I kept forgetting a row…doesn’t make a pretty pattern..finally broke through and now I love it..
I was early this year with the tax stuff…already refunded…No kiddie deductions either..kid is grown and filing his own!…but still managed a small refund

  5. It definitely sounds like that shawl needed a time out! Sometimes when you come back to things after a break you can’t understand what the problem was in the first place! Hope it goes ok now!
